Essential Question
What is a true American?
Reflection:
Thomas Paine conveys his story as "The Crisis" as a drastic moment for all the men in America because of the results that attained to it. He tells about why England has the power it has and why we must revolt and fight for what is right. England has took complete advantage of America and we can withstand this nonsense anymore.
Diary
Dear Diary,
It's me again as i feel the depression and anger as every American citizen in the U.S. is because of the British taken over our country. The taxes increase sky-high, to the point that we pay with our total paycheck just to get food on the table, and I'm tired of this. It seems every single big thing we do to keep this country in a good flow of business isn't good enough for England as they take control of everything we made and fought for to gain this beautiful country. Unfortunately, unless we do something about the British are gonna walk all over use like bullies unless something is done to make America a free country from England and the world. It seems its time to revolt, show the British that were not to be pushed around, I should tell the people of the America this speech and tell them it's time for a Revolutionary. This looks like there's gonna be something we never though to do again but, it's time for change and a revolution, it's time for a Revolutionary War.

Thesis: In Edward Taylor's "Huswifery he uses lines of conceit, imagery, rhyme, and extended metaphors to express his deep desires in the Puritan nature to praise and thank God for the things that he lives for.

American Dream - Anne Bradstreet
Political Cartoon
The role of women in America take a toll purpose in life as strong, prepared and well-equipped beings, but with their side effects of emotional torture like Anne Bradstreet in her poems of love, desperation, sorrow, and sadness. In the political cartoon a women is seen writing a quote that some women who have problems go through in their lives which was "Women's Sphere is (Crossed-out The Home) Wherever She Makes Good" on the blackboard. This shows reference to Anne Bradstreet because she wanted to make the best relationship with her husband throughout the fact that he was gone a lot with the caution of Anne in fear of losing him. Much like Anne the woman in the cartoon feels a deal of pain but strength to get over the situation similar like when Anne's house burned down. Anne had to make a choice of either crying because her house and possessions where burned and destroyed or suck it up because of the Puritan's belief of you not crying over some things because God doesn't want that. In conclusion, women's role in America are in the essence of survival and gratitude that we men should endure.

Thesis:
In Anne Bradstreet’s “In Reference to her Children” the author conveys the use of similes, metaphors, hyperbole's, personification, onomatopoeia to support her pain and happiness to her children.
Reflection: I feel that out of all off the Anne Bradstreet's, my favorite was "In Reference To Her Children". That poem gave a straight forward reference to society now when a mother raises her young to grow into adults, and when their grown-up, they have to let them live their life. In my opinion I like how her falsity of using her children as birds by her being the mother-bird who hatched her baby birds, and has to raise them to be on their own. Anne uses her babies when they have to learn how to fly as a phrase, when they have to live on their own and I feel was a great resemblance to life. This should be a lesson to children and parents that they love you and want to protect you always, and that your kids are gonna need their space to that they can prepare for the world when their older.
Diary: Hello, I'm Anne Bradstreet, a poet, mother, and wife living in the 1800 century doing what any other woman being the housekeeper. I focus on my true goal after all this stuff I do, and that's poetry and I've been writing for quite a while because it helps me get me threw my life. I've written over thirty poems but there are three that really show the things I have been through which are "In Reference To Her Children", "To My Dear and Loving Husband", and "Verses The Burning Of Her House"."In Reference To Her Children"which dealt with the Coming Of Age of my children, "To My Dear and Loving Husband" which dealt with the feeling of me and my husband relationship when away, and "Verses The Burning Of Her House" which dealt with the burning of my house and my most prized possessions. Overall, my favorite is "In Reference To Her Children" because it reminds me of my children but, all my poems are like my children which I cherish in my life.

American Dream - William Bradford
Cornelius Chavis
Of Plymouth Plantation
Thesis: In an excerpt from William Bradford's "Of Plymouth Plantation", although the puritans experience hardship in their voyage to America, in their initial arrival and in their dealings with the Indians, they still maintain their reverence to God and to one another [their initial reason for fleeing England].
Passage Favorite: These troubles being blown over, and now all being compact together in one ship, they put to sea again with a prosperous wind, which continued divers days together, which was some encouragement unto them; yet, according to the usual manner, many were afflicted with seasickness. And I may not omit here a special work of God’s providence. There was a proud and very profane young man, one of the seamen, of a lusty, able body, which made him the more haughty; he would always be contemning the poor people in their sickness and cursing them daily with grievous execration's; and did not let to tell them that he hoped to help to cast half of them overboard before they came to their journey’s end, and to make merry with what they had; and if he Were by any gently reproved, he would curse and swear most bitterly. But it pleased God before they came half seas over, to smite this young man with a grievous disease, of which he died in a desperate manner, and so was himself the first that was thrown overboard. Thus his curses light on his own head, and it was an astonishment to all his fellows for they noted it to be the just hand of God upon him.
Reflection: I believe I favor this passage out of the story because it uses source irony in a humorous way, and how sayings can affect the human life at an instant. The example of my reflection was in the first paragraph when the man on the Puritan boat who trashed talked the men aboard the ship who caught a fatal disease. The men aboard the ship who caught the disease were bound to contract it to the others, so when they caught it, they were left to die in a certain area and then thrown of the ship afterwards. It was only a matter of time before the man who disrespected the weak got sick with the fatal disease, left for dead and thrown of the boat which everybody then celebrated about. This just shows to be careful what you say and wish for because of that old saying"What Comes Around, Goes Around".
Diary Entry:
Hi,
I'm a crew mate from the Puritan ship which we our using to seek new land in America. There are dangerous surrounding along the way but me and my other crew mates believe we shall make it across with God watching over us. We feel it was a blessing when we made it there even though we lost a couple of men and gratefully a trash talking pain the butt due to a dreadful see sickness. Unfortunately, our sight of the land wasn't as we expected due to the setting, so we went to another which was also disastrous, so we went cruising for hours finding and area until we saw a place where we could build homes and live. But, their was and inconvenience because there were the so called Indians who grew anxious to drive us away but it didn't matter because thanks to the power of God we defeated them and claimed our land to live in tranquility for a little while.
Essential Question
Is there such a thing as a "True American ?"
Political Cartoon
This political cartoon shows how the government of the United States doesn't really have much of a interest for the issue on immigration. On one-half of the cartoon shows a mayor who represents the citizens about issue on immigration by showing a lot of them entering America. Unfortunately, Uncle Sam who plays the role as the government doesn't do anything but watch them invade the country without a trace of care or awareness. The other part of the cartoon shows a lot of immigrant coming in the country as quick as possible to avoid being sent back to their country, and the U.S. Border Line not paying attention to them coming in the country. This may show that the U.S. Boarder Line doesn't pay attention to certain areas of the line and just let some immigrants who they see are further away pass through the line free of charge. In conclusion, the cartoon points out the lack of work that the government puts forth to keep the population of America at a normal state when the population of immigration increases.
